Another successful night at Footwork! Arrived shortly after 11 and was greeted by the lovely glist girl, followed by the club filled with balloons from the night before. Balloons are fun! The place was scorching all night.. couldn't deal but made the most of it. Getting wet in the rain FTW.. but I was shocked at how quickly we became dry when we'd come back in. Earlier FW event reviews mentioned that the sound system had been tweaked; I definately noticed an improvement to the sound. Kudos to sound techs. Crowd was mixed; typical Luke Fair jammers + some odds and ends. Met Jason Myers from Project Runway!! (lol) Vibe was there but fell short throughout the night. Picked up towards to end with a little help from the Fey brothers at the back
Lee Osborne never disappoints, and with that being said, he surprises me every time. He really knows how to cater towards the theme of the night, and even though I generally associate him as a techno deejay, his opener's are such great lead-ins to the headliner. Such versatility! His set was spot on.. got me dino jamming early on in the night. Towards the end of his set, he started dropping some tech.. and played a few of my current favs...
Paul Ritch - Split
Uto Karem - Elevate V1
Paul Ritch - Split The Line (Dubfire's Mega Remix)
What a treat! I thought it would be hard for the Fair to transition and keep it going from that peak...
Luke Fair took over, and pretty much started the night all over. He somehow managed to take what he was left with from Osborne's set, and turn it around into his own sound. Mixing was lovely. Track selection was interesting.. I didn't understand his programming; thought there were some oddly placed tracks here and there. Guess I wasn't feeling the flow this time around. On the plus side though, he did play some great tracks, lots of familiar ones from previous sets which was sweet. He played the song that makes me associate with the boat cruise from last year, as well as
Andy Chatterley - Access The Future
which pretty much speaks for itself in terms of epicness.
Marco Carola - Bloody Cash
was played too.. Can't stand this track, and I think it's one of the most overplayed.. but what can you do? Didn't get much of a wow factor, but towards the end, I'd say the last hour or so, he managed to pick it up and get us grooving again. Lots of grooving... snake charming, lava lamp - bodily movements. Oh yes! It wasn't the most memorable Uhhhhhhn Fair set I've heard, but it satisfied my primary dancing needs.
It was very interesting to meet Nifty Narcotics, and jam with the rest of you crazy folk.

Freaking bangin.
Lee Osborne opened up with a great set; transitioned into a really nice techy vibe. Towards the end of his set, the tunes were really solid - I wish I had a track list. I was really enjoying it - especially because it didn't overlap at all with the main event...
It was my first time seeing Luke Fair, and as Geoff, Tara and Mikey informed me, he would tear it up. He absolutely did. He had a really nice vibe right off the top, happy and traditional. with great overall tonal qualities. It kept getting deeper as it moved along. His technical mixing style was impressive; the transitions were quite smooth - sometimes remarkably smooth, and the programming was (in my opinion) top notch. For the first time in quite a while, I was really disappointed to have to leave so soon. Nearing 3 AM, I was starting to get the feeling of something akin to Sasha and Digweed at Budapest, circa 2006 - and was so pained to have to head out. Taking care of a 2 year old bright and early pretty much kept me to a 3 am time limit I'd jump at the chance to see him again, and I'm glad Footwork brought him in. I'm really starting to love the place.
On another note, it was really nice to meet so many TA's. You guys rocked. The vibe was great, and you guys (Tara, Mikey, Geoff) kept me going long after I was wearing down. Great stuff.
