Third release on Pole Folder's La Tour Imprint welcomes the new solo output of Charlie May.

There are few more inspired artists working in electronic music today than Charlie May. As the architect behind many of the stylistic blueprint shifts in dance since the early heady days of acid house, May knows a thing or two about what makes a dancefloor tick. One half of revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha’s biggest singles and albums; highly respected solo producer in his own right.

May has remained at the vivacious beating heart of house since the early ’90s, taking the pulse of the clubbing populace and ensuring it remains in rude health. With a fresh arsenal of new music created under the Spooky guise as well as his solo work 2009 promises to be a landmark year with the planned launch of a Charlie May label and then a subsequent solo artist album.

Demons Among Us is exactly the sort of cinematic-style club production that will resonate with fans of Charlie’s work. Forging together multi-textured layers of precision crafted sonics, the overall vibe is one of minimized, robotic-funk that provides the foundations for a killer shimmering melody to do its joyous damage

Not My Cat is a brooding fusion of bubbling acid, deep bass tones and low-down jacking rhythms that treads a line between early doors groover and late night mood setter. Smartly arranged to allow plenty of space for the many elements to work their way in to the mix and build a subtle intensity that holds throughout.

Demons Among Us sounds wicked, I fkking love Charlie May - Funny guy. Not My Cat sounds ok but i'll wait till I hear the full tracks.

both sound pretty damn sick.

charlie may is a genius in terms of sound design, wow.

can't wait to hear these in full.
