I've never bought anything digital in my life. And I don't think I'll be doing so any time soon either.

I like to hold something physical. I don't have any feelings to mp3-file unlike the real thing.

Music is ridiculously expensive these days. And now, I'm more reluctant in buying vinyl: last week i bought a so-called vinyl exclusive from meerestief (the label's site indicated so) only to find out those tracks were brought up on Beatport just now

No I wouldn't.

Personally I don't give a fuck where the music is coming from or what format it's in as long as it's something I enjoy and can play easily.

I still try to avoid shit music as much as possible though and currently I'm not buying much music as I've had other things "more important" to buy.

For me buying music has always been limited by the amount of money I have. So if I had to spend 8 times as much on every track, i'd be buying 8 times less music most likely. Dunno if I'd buy better music then. Maybe a little as you would have to think about every purchase 8 times more. I'd still probably buy the occasional shit track and be 8 times more annoyed than now. I just think that my list of tunes I want is 1/8 of the length it would be if I only bought physical copies of the music.

So, in conclusion: Maybe a little/no!

Vinyl DJ's are more likely to buy/spin records to a crowd that have SUBSTANCE to them. Anyone can go on beatport the night of his gig and buy the top 10 list and burn it. But vinyl dj's have an entire selection process that revolves around sampling, waiting, sampling again, waiting, and then finally when payday comes, you buy the best 2 out of the 20 that you found.

I seriously doubt anyone puts that much thought into a track when it only costs 2 dollars + no shipping fee.

psh, hell no.

i'm not strong enough to lift a bag of records, and i can't shell out 12 USD for vinyl. i'd rather pay 2.49.

The good DJs will, regardless.

(I get your point, though. Just saying.)

I agree...I'm not saying everyone. I'm sure there are some standouts that puts some serious time into their cd books.

Let me put it this way. In any given month there are probably 20 or 30 records that I find that I feel an intense need to have and share with others. Out of those, I might buy 8 or 10 and the rest put on hold.

Some of those that were put on hold, I'll remove from the wantlist, and sometimes they are fogotten. Sometimes they'll pop up in a search 6 months later, or I'll hear someone else play it and I'm like damn I shoulda got that one. Then i'll put it back in the list and start over.

With the vinyls, unless you're living w/ the parents and can drop 500 bucks a month or more, your selection process is much more ruthless and you end up with a box full of nothing but bomb records
