[review] Deadmau5 @ Webster Hall

Friday night was awesome, got there around 1am, not sure exactly what time he came on. Some songs I heard after getting there:

WHAT THE FUCK
GHOSTS AND STUFF
NOT EXACTLY
HI FRIEND
SLIP
LONGEST ROAD
WORD PROBLEMS
SOMETIMES THINGS GET, WHATEVER
THE REWARD IS CHEESE
I REMEMBER
HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER
AGURU

Was there last night... let me say how awful Webster Hall is first. That place was horribly packed... and couldn't stand half the people [guys] there acting like idiots. Deadmau5's set was pretty good IMO. Aside from all the songs mentioned by mancino, every other song sounded the same to me. The set was somewhat inconsistent too, had lots of energy during the beginning during Ghosts n Stuff, but somewhat lost it through the set - to me at least. Overall 5/10

ive seen mau5 3 times, and hes played the same exact things everytime.

mind you, when i hear arguru i go nuts. but hes losing his innovation imho. the mixing doesnt seem too good on stage either.

its a shame WH is always the place getting big names. tourist trap. the floor feels like its bending when people are jumping.

anyways, decent night, but my mau5 experiences have been declining everytime.

^ his shows are always very similar, that's maybe why there was no review, its been done before.

Seems like he had the right ideas for marketing, the skill to produce, and the creativity for his persona .. but superstardom came so quick that he never learned to properly dj and cater to a crowd.

When he first started touring and came here to open for James Zabiela, and even WMC 07 - he was wayy better (probably because he thought out his sets as opposed to playing on the fly).

Nowadays he has extended sets and starts with peak hour shit like Ghosts N Stuff and the energy dies soon thereafter.
Personally, since he only plays his own tracks, I think he should produce some more quality shit and tune down on the touring (even though that's the money maker). Even though TA accounts for a very small percentage of the club %, it's usually safe to say that lots of other people are probably thinking the same and stop going to his shows. :|

Of course I could be 100% dead wrong.
