Battery sounds really "harsh"

Does anyone else find the sound of Battery to be really harsh? It seems to be overly loud and compressed sounding when I use it.

Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

It comes with compressors and a limiter and some EQ tools, check those out.

I think Battery is unstable, sluggish, and with poor interface, as most NI Instruments in my opinion.

I would rather import samples directly into the sequencer as audio, which is what i prefer to do.

same.. depends on the sequencer tho, no? you use cubase? like FL for instance, you can't really use audio tracks for drum sequencing... you're going to be going through some samplerish type thing either way.

Why would you import 30 or so individual samples? Also, if you import them in separately, your percussion info isn't preserved in the midi data. Battery is likely the best drum machine you will find. That or FPC which is simple and nice.

Yea, I enjoyed that about FL, the FPC thing wasnt bad either...

In cubase, I am not sure how economical it will be to build drum loops in the sequencer... though I guess I should mess around with it and try it since you can set snap down to like 1/128 or something...

Does not FL users have the luxurious step sequencer to use for drums ? It`s a breeze to use.

The step sequencer in FL isn't suitable if you do not use loops.

In time i think you will prefer using audio tracks, seeing all the waveforms laid out not just blocks and having to click on different 'patterns' to see the contents of the blocks.

What do you mean economical? It should take less cpu than battery no? 1/128th 'snap' (quantize) is alittle crazy. My sx3 only goes up to 1/64 i believe, but i pretty much am always on 1/16th, ocassionally 1/32 or 1/16 triplet

It works, but you have to find ways to do it fast.
But its lot of sizing, slicing and gluing etc.
