Finally got to see Guy Gerber

He was at Rebel NYC on saturday. The venue and staff were excellent. Sound was top notch for a medium sized venue. I expected gerber to play soft melodics but he just crushed the place with deep tech and some borderline techno. At one point he played "Timing" and the place went completely bananas, myself included. I was very impressed. Great dj in my opinion

He makes and I assume plays a type of house that I'm incredibly tired of.

Got to see him play live two weeks ago, Timing is ok-ish Hedonism is so much better though. Great performance nonetheless.

That's exactly what I thought going into it. I was afraid he'd flatline it with bore-inimal. Not the case. Only heard a couple of melodies. No dooka-dook swing rhythms...no blip blops either. He just blew it up. I was dead sober aside from a few drinks during the opening dj. Timing made my face feel like it was melting. He was getting up near 128-130bpm towards the end which is not where the set started tempo wise.

Give him a chance...

There was one track with a lazy trumpet over it. Sounded awesome at Rebel but could be one of those tracks that doesnt sound good outside of the club.

I'd ask for the ID but there's a lot of trumpet tracks in 2009 so I'm not asking for the ID

Also I'm contrasting Guy Gerber's performance against Dave Seaman and Nick Warren at Pacha the night before. Dave Seaman had some of the most shitty track selection I've heard in NY. Nick Warren was better but tag teaming with Seaman brought Warren down into the mud. Wouldnt go out of my way to see either of them again.

Seaman is weird freakin guy in the booth...seemed off his rocker in some regard

I happen to like melodies in most of my music.
