Is MTV planning market trance the way they market hip hop?

Somebody said that MTV is planning to modify their shows, hosts and focus to change the American audience away from Rap and Hip Hop to the more European electronica, glam-pop, trance, etc etc. If you think this is a good thing, think again. If this were to happen, there'd be trance versions of Chingy and Soulja Boy. I hate MTV with every fiber of my being and would hate to see this happen.

If they did, it sure as heck didn't surpass the popularity of Britney Spears. We're talking about putting trance and the like on the Britney Spears (1999-2000) level, or at least that's what that guy told me.

"As a sub note, I think it will be interesting to see if the abomination of MTV can actually influence the popular music culture of a certain era as it did in the past. They have plans to modify their shows, hosts and focus to change the American audience away from Rap and Hip Hop to the more European electronica, glam-pop, trance, etc etc. It could be a terrible thing if we just get stuck with a thousand Lady Gaga’s, but it could be amazing if that allows for a much higher talent pool in my flavor of the month genre; synthcore =)"

Well if MTV won't touch it, good. I don't want trance versions of Chingy and Soulja Boy ruining this great genre. You also don't think it'll sell as well as hip-hop? Maybe not. But if scene kids continue to grab a hold of this genre, it might give MTV evil ideas. I hate the fact that scene kids are giving trance a bad name.

MTV or no MTV, Hip-Hop is already fucking engraved in people's brains in the US.

I'm pretty sure that when he refers to trance he is refering to this:

No thanks. We don't want "trance" on MTV.

Yeah, really saddened me that a person I knew who raved since '98 would actually play this song to death last year. And he looked at me like "Why the fuck aren't you getting down to this?"
