I've been contemplating for a while on buying a A&H Xone 92 Rotary. I understand that this piece of beauty will be pricy, but i am willing to take the financial fall for it.

Something came across my mind. It's concerning the life line of gears. Even thought i bought some new gear, i know in about 3 to 4 years, they are going to have be to repaired. The bearings, motors, etc are of concern to me, because they will not last a life time.

So if i buy a used 92R compared to a new one, would you think it's worth it? Getting a used one which is a 2-3 years old for 1400$ or new for about 2000$.

Of course i'm aware that gear is something to cherish and keep them as clean and sturdy as possible (Dust covers, Wiping, Cleaning, Lubbing). But i can't scratch off this idea that maybe getting a new one which would cost me about 600$ would be worth it or not.

mixers like that last forever if taken care of properly. If it looks and sounds in good condition, then yeah, get a used one.

Cdjs on the other hand, nah, I wouldn't get them if they've been used for a couple years.

A few months ago i bought my self a pair of M5G. I bought them right in the begginning of the recession, so it cost me about 1600$ for them. In return, i feel no regrets whatsoever concerning the financial toll it took from me. When i have these 2 babies with me, i feel as if they belong to me and has only been touched by me. No one else has touched it (IE: Second hand). Since i know it's something that i appreciate so much, i clean these babies until they are shinning till i go blind.

I know i'm pretty much refuting my self, but i just need a second opinion.

Well, just check it out, if everything appears to be alright I'd say go for it. I had a used DJM 500 for a while and it worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever. And it was one that had the OLD Pioneer logo on it so I know it'd been used for a while.

For a used mixer, i'm just going to have to handle it like a computer basically. Nothing to lub, just dust off everything i can and after each month, take it appart and clean it from all the dust.

Correcto mundo, or am i missing something here?

I've never really taken mine apart ever, but yeah, you can do that. It's probably a good idea I just cba yet.

I dust my stuff frequently though.

The only reason i would open something up is to fix it. I wouldn't bother if it was in perfect working order.

Make sure you don't spill anything on it and cover it up when it's not in use.

Don't store your equipment in a dusty place either etc etc it's all relatively simple stuff to follow. Would i purchase second hand gear, definitely!


I bought 2 amps for my car (DLS A3, Genesis 4 Ch), new they would have cost me £1350 for the two of them. I got them for £700 and they've worked a beauty for the last 4 years for me.

I bought my MK3D 1210's second hand and they've worked a beauty for me as well.

Would i buy a Xone 92R second yes, why? Because they're built to a high standard and should last a long time. Unlike some of the cheaper gear where i wouldn't.

I'm just concerned about the life line on the mixer. No matter how clean you keep your set up, one day it is bound to break or just shut down.

Question, and it might be stupid but I've never really looked into it: would opening your mixer to clean it void your warranty? I mean, it's probably only a one year warranty anyways and it'd be fine to open them up after that, but if the mixer was still under warranty, would that void it?

I'm pretty sure Pioneer considers that a warranty voiding action, but every manufacturer is different. Allen & Heath might be a little more lenient about that than others.

Hmm i pretty much negociated the price down to 1750 for a brand new xone rotary. Compared to a used (Made In UK) version which is 1350.

*If it's made from the Uk, it should be about 2-3 years old.
