Hello everybody,
Just thought I’d state the obvious since someone has obviously missed it.
When you bring food to work you put your name on the packaging/container to ensure
A) It does not get thrown out
B) Everybody knows that the food is spoken for and won’t eat it.
I can understand if I put a loaf of bread in the freezer that it may get eaten. But on this particular occasion I had forgotten that I had some bread left and bought more. So I had 2 loaves of bread in the freezer and over the course of the week last week and this week, somebody has helped themselves to several slices, out of both packets.
And both packets of bread had my name written on them in large letters, TWICE (once on each side of the loaf). And all 4 inscriptions were blatantly ignored.
So maybe you’re thinking ‘whats a few slices of bread?’ so besides the fact that it doesn’t matter when the person who wrote their name on the food obviously did not want you to eat it, heres some background.
I have 6 slices of bread for lunch everyday (assuming I eat bread that day which is most days). A standard loaf usually consists of 2 end pieces, and 18 slices of bread. Sometimes the bread is cut poorly and there are only 17 slices of bread.
So, if someone eats 2 slices of bread from the ideal packet, I’ll be eating crust for lunch on the 3’rd day.
If the packet is not ideal or more bread is taken, I’ll either be going hungry, or I’ll have make other arrangements.
Sure, it’s not really a big deal, I can still go eat. But I don’t think I should be inconvenienced so that other people can eat MY food. Its quite irritating when I go to prepare my lunch and find out there’s not enough bread.
So, in the event that you don’t look on the packets before helping yourself, I suggest you start. And in the event that you are simply ignoring the fact that you are eating someone elses food, please stop eating my bread.
By the way, a loaf of bread from the BP is about $3.50 so don’t be scared to go buy one if you feel like toast for breakfast.
This has been a public service announcement.
PS this has been happening for a while, but having it happen to two separate loaves over the course of two days was just too much.

I too have felt the effects of the bread thief but unlike you Thor I have moved past mere complaints and I have decided to take the law into my own hands and do something about this vicious crime against taste and decency. I have spoken to Sandra and she has approved the installation of the below device in the kitchen. It is called the Bread thief trap 9000. It meets all workplace health and safety guidelines and should prove effective in catching the thief. The device will look like the below picture only slightly larger to fit a fully grown human. The bread will be placed beneath the basket and when the thief attempts to take the bread simply pull the string and they will be trapped like the thieving rodent that they are. As this device will require constant manning to ensure the thief is caught I propose we work in rotating shifts of 1 hour so that we can both complete our required office work in addition bringing this brazen bread thief to justice.

PS: If you know who the bread thief is please don’t forward them this email as it may reduce its effectiveness.
