Re: Help me! Traktor for effects or Serato + efx 1000
What kind of mixer do you have? Does it have a decent send/return on it for effects?
I had an EFX-1000, but after I got my free Traktor Pro upgrade I realized it was really redundant. The new effects of Traktor Pro are more usable and the fact that it's more routeable using them as insert effects (rather then a mixer send/return), made me decide to sell the EFX-1000. You also get two effects units with Traktor Pro, which can "effect" all 4 decks, as well as each deck having an independent filter.
I also had a Xone 1D, but sold that as well when the Stanton SCS.3D came out. I'm now completely sold on the Stanton SCS.3D unit for controlling Traktor along side decks. The latest Traktor Pro mapping (provided by Stanton) is really brilliant, and lets you control all of the effects, filters, loops, hot cues, and even internal playback (if you want) in one little unit (for 2 decks, I bought a 2nd for 4 deck control).
The SCS.3D is laden with LED's which show you the current value of controls in the software, like the values of the effects sliders, or the looping controls being enabled.
So consider that unit as well. I don't miss the 1D at all... Although it was a well built unit the layout is kind of odd and it's rather big if you care about portability.

My mixer doesn't have any effects, and I would love to use effects.
Would it be better for me to keep serato and buy an EFX-1000
or
Should I trade Serato for Traktor Pro and possibly buy a Xone 1D |
