Mixer upgrade

http://www.westenddj.co.uk/Product/...-S2/GoogleBase/

Had a Pioneer djm 3000 for a while now and fancy a change.

Anyone used one of the S2's before??

I use the flange, filter and echo on the Pioneer to a certain extent, but I've heard that A&H are superior.

Superb mixer... great sound and far superior to any pioneer.

Get an efx1000 or 500 with it and use it with the effects loop and you won't miss anything from the pioneer...

ps- you can buy a rotary version too...

Nice one, thanks for that.

I was actually considering the rotary option. Are there any disadvatages of using them as opposed to faders??

I mean, can you cut tracks in and out like you would with faders.

Well there is the cross fader of you want to do fast cutting with a rotary....

Its changeable on the s2- can buy the linear mixer and buy the rotary kit and vice versa if you dont like one or the other...

If the S2 had 4-Band EQ like the Xone:92 it would be the best mixer on the market, IMO. Only reason I'm going with the 92 instead, is because it's a table top sitting mixer. Remember, the S2 is rack mount, so you'll have to have a table that will accommodate that (Or build/buy one). The S2 is so sexy, otherwise. Only real gripe I have with it is the placement of the headphone jack. Right in the middle of the mixer is an odd-place to put it (Not right in the middle, but in the top-right area of the face).

EDIT: Unlike the DJM-3000 which still kept the inputs/outputs on the back of the mixer, the S2's in's/out's are on the bottom of the mixer, so you won't be able to table rest it like your 3000, is what I'm getting at.

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me otherwise, I'm jumpin' on the Allen & Heath bandwagon really shortly here too (coming from a DJM-400). If you happen to get the S2, please comment about it. Don't know too many people who own one due to the Rack mount style, for home use.

The S2 is an amazing mixer. I saw it at NAMM last year when it got introduced and I fell in love with it. I was gonna buy it over the DJM800, but two things held me back...

1.- ALL THE CONNECTIONS ARE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MIXER!!! Yup! This is an installation mixer, so it's not meant to be taken off the rack. All connections are below the mixer. That's a pain to hook up gear on the fly. Which, is the same reason why it has an EXTERNAL & USB INPUTS on top of the mixer. That way you can use hook up some gear on the fly.

2.- WTF was A&H thinking with that headphone placement? I love A&H but come on! WTF?
