I love video game conferences, TGS, GDC, Gamers Conference/Leizig, E3, and some of the smaller ones.
PlayStation pre-emptively pwns E3 once again. MS's showing was weak, had some stuff that should have been at last years E3. Alan Wake was kinda cool though, reminded me of Alone in the Dark. Remedy is a good developer, makers of the original and best Max Payne, one of my favorite games of all time, so I still have high hopes for Alan Wake, especially since its coming to PC. 'Natal' looked like a PS Eye rip, minus the practical use that could make it commercially successful, not to mention it was obvious none of the demos were realtime, just prerendered unmade games with an actor timing responses and statements. Dont know why they even showed it when no software is actually made for it to really show off. I wonder if it is on the showerfloor?
Forza 3...looked like they "borrowed" Polyphony Digtal's GT5 graphics coding/programming, lighting improved nicely, almost to GT5:Prologue level, so it was MS's show highlight for me, still have to see it in motion, and now it has cockpit view too. Crackdown 2, still not interesting unless it does something similar to inFamous, and has an actual story and quality narrative based gameplay, and overhauled presentation. Splinter was ok, looks like they scrapped the new engine and went back to the older engine. Mass Effect 2, meh, Halo meh.
For PlayStation show tommorow I want to see Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, Rachet Clank, TRICO (though I kinda dont need to see it), GT5, Final Fantasy XIII, and a few others. All the PSP stuff. O yah MGS:Rising, awesome, finally Kojima got smart and went multiplat, his brilliant work deserves to be enjoyed by all. Kinda sucks for 360 owners its not MGS 4, but I love Raiden and anything KojiPro puts out so im looking forward to this regardless, knew it was coming.
Also looking forward to Nintendo's E3, they should have some nice stuff since they sat out last year, so they probably have a lot to show. I'm guessing a new Zelda and a new Mario and maybe a second Mario announcement, mainly cause they need some more core games. Hoping for a new Miyamato IP that is not waggle or peripheral gimmick based. He and his teams need to get back to making new IPs for the hardcore. MMM E3, they need to open it to the public. But im guessing the Microsoft booths would be empty unless people were herded to them, and that would'nt be good PR. So it is worth dusting under the bed and not having actual fans at E3s anymore. ESA has to help out the home team that no one cares about.
