New Track - ProgressiveTheory

Been working on my first progressive style track, still some trancy elements though. Would love some feedback.

Production quality is there and mixing sounds good, but this just feels really "typical" and "safe" to me. It doesn't seem to have anything out of the ordinary to make it stand out or make it memorable. You've got the engineering part nailed, so now you need to add some kind of twist to it if you want people to remember it. That tends to be the hardest part, of course...

I know but its hard when you only have 5 909 samples and one synth!!

Cheers for the listen. I kind of know what you mean. To be honest the mixing and production comment probably means more to me cause eq, kicks, bass...usually something I struggle with.

I know what you mean though, could do with a twist perhaps in the break somewhere cause I'm really happy with the progression up to the break. Need to smoke some'in maybe it'll help!! It's only 2 days work so far.

Anyway wanted to get the start and finish down so full track new link.

cheers for the listen.

This is about the 6th track I've actually completed but many more attempts. I usually lose focus when people tell me the EQ needs work and I spend hours playing with EQ making it sound worse!!

Anyhow had Reason for about 5 yrs but been serious about it since I bought a Virus just over a year ago.

Thanks for the comments...

Reno

this is definitely one of the better mixed songs I've heard today. drums and bassline sounds clear and crisp.

what do you use for mixing? i use Waves Diamond Bundle but struggle to produce a clean mix like this.

Hi - The first saw type bass is z3ta and the second (later on) is Virus TI. Think the bass clarity also lot to do with picking the right kick sample. Not much EQ going on actually although I did use Waves RBass over the whole mix to boost the overall bass around 50hz. All drums mixed on Reason rewired to Cubase.
