Personally I feel that there is still good trance out there but it is much harder to find partially due to the fact that some producers keep churning out tracks like nobody's bussiness to make a dollar or two and the end result is many of their tracks sounding the same, then afterwards..here comes the noob producer on the block thinking...oh I have to sound like "this" in order to make it, so instead of creating something original he copies the sound of the exsisting producers who became successful. This results in most DJ's having to sift through a bunch of really shitty tracks before they find something worthy of playing. At times there is also an issue of comparison, say you have listened to 30 shitty tracks, the next track thats even halfway decent is going to sound amazing because you just endured so much trash when in actuality the track is only halfway decent so it's a good idea to listen again just to be sure.
If you have been listening to trance for a long time I would hope that at this point your standards are pretty high so you probably feel trance sucks because you don't care to put the effort into searching so hard for great tracks whereas you may be attracted to the sounds of another genre that you have been listening to less much easier. I also notice that this also varies month to month depending on the quality of releases for that set time period.
I personally love trance and I won't give up on it that easily. I am part of the group of people who have been listening for a while, have high standards, and are willing to put in the effort to look for fresh new producers, and anything that sounds creative and interesting. |
Agreed, I had a convo about this with one of my friends and basically we said the same thing. There's just a serious lack of innnovation in Trance right now, someone has to come out with a new sound. But some trance is still good I do still listen to Rush hour.
