Tribal is making a comeback

The drums seem to be in just about everything nowadays from tech house to prog to techno. Lawler is bringing it back too, sharam, morillo, cedric gervais were all playing lots of it last weekend in vegas, and victor calderone had the best of it

i dunno about those other dj's and what they are spinnin
but i seen calderone 2 days later when he was in ny
and he did throw down a few tribal tracks, but his style is no where to what it used to be
he used to be one of the tribal kings, now hes more techno but can blend it with some tribal/house and he pulls it off great
heres one of the tribaly tracks he played

yeah but it's mainly tribal tech house and the problem with that is that it's tech house at base.

Exactly my friend.

See Koma Koma (Lawler Mix) as an example of what some people are calling "a tribal comeback"

If that's a tribal comeback, we are all in a world of poo

01-02 tribal house isn't really...tribal

it's like people getting tribal tattoo's. they're not tribal. they're just ugly

moondog 'story of moondog' is what i'd consider somewhat tribal and ancient

I was raised on Tribal Prog from 2000-2002 so I'll always have a soft spot for it. But the problem w/ that genre is, its very easy to mix...I would argue the easiest genre of all since there was little to no melody to worry about. This created an entire generation of dj's in Philly, NJ, and NY that played monotone marathon tribal sets for hours on end.

Definately true, also prog house and techno, it's just a lot of it nowadays has tribalish beats incorporated. I guess when I think of tribal I think of that big room chunky sound, and not nessesarily repetetive drums like it used to be.

None of my sets on the "tribal house" chanel at di have all out tribal in them, it's all prog, techno and tech house, but they don't fit on any of the other chanels.
