Sending Your Mix to an Artist

So I made a mix recently that was inspired by a certain producer's work. I have really come to appreciate his music and have thought about sharing the mix with him to get his feedback (it includes a couple of his works). I was wondering, would you guys think I'd be totally cool and acceptable to do this or should I not bother? I guess I won't find out until I try, but it's not like he's a real big-time producer. I'm just trying to think about how I should address him, but thought I'd make this quick post before thinking any further.

Anyone ever done this?

I love it when a DJ includes one of my tracks in a mix.

I've received thank-yous from a few producers whose tracks I've used on a mix I posted online. Producers do appreciate it, even more if they are not "big names" as you say

you could send it, but do not be upset if you get a generic response like thanks for the support and nothing more.

if he/she dj's himself, you can almost certainly forget about feedback because between the time it takes to produce, hunt for music/samples, sift through promos, sitting down and just listening to a bunch of tunes mixed together like any and every other dj out there(trust me there are more people djing now than ever, and too many of these people send their sets to their favorite producer/dj for feedback) might be a bit time consuming for them. I am not dissing your sets either.

do it anyway, but the best chance of getting a listen is if you have a personal relationship with them. The amount of spam these guys get is unreal, and it you are contacting them through myspace, depending on their stature it is probably not even them answering.

now we need a name

Sven Weisemann. Love this guy's sound. Makes me really sad not to own a record player, since I don't have access to a lot (probably most) of his work. And it would be through Facebook. I wouldn't expect anything through Myspace either.

I could see him maybe having gotten a tad stale for some, but for someone like me who hasn't been following him for the past several years, it's a breath of fresh air.

you think a well known, busy dj wants to waste time by listening to some fan's mix? nope
