Look at it this way - America has been grabbed by its balls so now it wants to make peace with all its enemies and sources of evil, including Taliban.
I am not a big fan of this. I woudn't call Obama a terrorist appeaser, but Taliban should not be reasoned with.
As for Iran - now they must make an according approach move. Though I think their pride and ego will turn this Obama offer into a pile of shit. Iran isn't going to be pushed aside easily from whatever the agenda it has planned. They feel that they have the "upper hand" in the region, given a carte blanche through weakening of Iraq, and think that Americans are in no position to depose the current Iranian leadership. So why should Iran all of a sudden become friends with America - thats too easy. They need the American threat to keep themselves in power, the boogeyman so to speak. They fear that being friendly with America may cause an internal "flowering" of revolution, which the conservatives in Iran are afraid of. Spread of democracy to Iran will erode their regime.
Make no mistake about it.
