My tracks are phasing, need help.

I've been using Torq LE for a while now, and this keeps happening more and more. Not sure if it's the software or my settings but it's getting a lot worse. I get a lot of phasing (I think that's what you call it when the high and mid sounds of percussion get filtered out) in some tracks it's when I mix them, and some just happen by itself.

Can anyone help me out?

this means ur mixing too perfect. use equalizer on the areas where the problems is. if the problem is in the mid try put down the mid on one of the tracks. people usualy only have this problem with the kick but if your track are near identical then this will occur.

no, it doesn't.

try cutting the low of the outgoing track a bit more, and if that doesn't work, pitch one of the tracks up or down for a split-second and it'll correct itself. if it's happening without actually mixing two tracks together like you said it's a problem with the software/hardware. good luck with torq tech support, it took them 3 weeks to reply to a tech support inquiry i sent them and five days to figure out that they couldn't fix my problem.

Yea, that's what I'm afraid of.. some songs they just don't sound the same as they used to. Also when mixing I find that they phase as well.

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it.

I experienced the same problem when I switched over to mp3's and SSL. Prior to that I never had issues with phasing (mixing strictly vinyl) but found it far more common when mixing mp3's, especially songs with very similar (or the same) kicks. The issue was also worse for me with earlier versions of SSL but since I've done the last few upgrades it hardly ever happens to me. Not sure if anything there is related but just pointing out an observation.

As mentioned above I generally adjust the bass slightly and further eq as I'm mixing to compensate if it happens. I find that pitch bending the track to compensate ends up sounding worse throughout the mix because you end up overcompensating. Come in with your new track's bass a bit lower and as your mixing it out slowly raise the bass and lower the bass from the outgoing track. It should help.

Good luck
