I have been watching this forum and some others a long time and while there are so many ways to finally reach up a certain quality with you track I was curious about different methods or maybe new ideas for myself or other members.
I have read many different things from people just putting a whole bunch of plug’s on their master and some only useing a eq and an expander. I know that there have been at some point already many statements about that issue. But I was just curious what kinda plug-ins, which order, which settings…
1. Compressor (usually the one from my sequencer)
I usually prefer to have a compressor first (attack 1.2 ms, 117 ms – to have that punchy effect more going on – but that depends on the track)
2. EQ (either T-Racks or Sonalksis)
I raise up by 100 Hz und lower, and than between on certain mids depending on the leads pads, etc…. From time to time also in the high ends – depending on the amount of hihats I used and I usually do not like to compress hihats so that’s why I like to EQ those.
3. Stereo Plug-Ins
Had some many already from Sonalksis up to Crysonic
By now I haven’t really found one I am happy with.
4. Maximizer
If I really want to have that final track I put that one at last.

Its been discussed so many times. Search. We really don't need another flamefest about this topic IMO.
For me, its EQ>> compressor >> limiter. Limiter goes on at the end, the other's are on there the whole time.
yeah when it comes to the master i do use a limiter only so that i don't kill my sound card through the stages of making my tracks when things get crazy.
but when it comes to the end result i leave well alone any eq,compression,distort and anything else i think my track needs. Is done whilst working thorough my track.
i find this way most produtive with a lot less compression and more fine tuning of sounds has mad my track bigger and better

Out of interest, why do you need EQ on your master? What does that achieve?
a touch of EQ, a little bit of compression, and then a limiter
keeping it simple for now

Mainly to cut the frequencies below 40 Hz. Thats pretty much it. I've also started cutting above 18 khz and I'm tending to boost above 10 quite a bit at the moment for more air. But i suspect my monitors might be misleading me with that.
Personally on the master channel i only work with an EQ and a limiter. It varies from track to track but i will usually cut away frequencies under about 30-35 HZ. I would also boost some of the mid - high frequencies in order to add more presence to the track, but its kind of a preference thing at this point though at around 2k and 6k i like to give small boosts. At the end i like to cut away useless high frequencies so as to not have odd tinny or mosquito sounds in places in the track; at around 17k or 16.5k most times. Though all of this is dependent on your track and what kind of style you are going for. After the EQ i usually add a maximizer. I can't really give you help here with settings as the maximizer is really too tricky to give throw out numbers out for. As cliche as it is, play around with the knobs / faders a little bit.

i put ozone 4 on the master channel. on the eq i cut 30 Hz and below and 18 kHz and above. then i use the exciter and stereo imager on the mid - high frequencies than a maximzer to boost the overall level.
i put on a limiter to avoid peaks and im starting to wonder if thats the reason my tracks sounds so fucking dull.

I doubt it, unless your pushing it super hard
For me, I put an eq to cut below 30hz, then I have 2 compressors that I put on with just like 1 to 2 db reduction (I just like the character of them), then a transparent limiter to push it a little.
