Recommend me DJ's to go see at this festival

Dear MD's,

in three weeks, I'll go to Awakenings Festival over here in Holland. I know my way around in the techno scene fairly well, but this year's lineup is huge, and while I used to be able to create a planning throughout the day, it's really hard this time. Therefore I'd like to reach out to all the elFreaks, Bas' and Clovis' (and others of course) on MD, of whom I think their input on TA has greatly influenced my taste in techno/techhouse/ethnic tacos.

Long story short: here's the lineup. Who should I go see? First two stages are open air, the others are tents. I omitted the schranz stage, because, in all fairness, I hate schranz

V (air)

Live: Secret Cinema

A
Âme
Dixon
Dominik Eulberg
Gabriel Ananda
Jimpster a.k.a. Audiomontage
Marc Romboy

Live: Olene Kadar

Timetable will appear later on (don't know when precisely), but when it's official, I might change my planning since some DJ's I (you) chose could be playing at the same time.

Personally I would just stick to Arena X, as it seems to have the most variation.

However, this is an open air summer festival in Amsterdam, and the lineup looks decent enough as a whole. If I were you, I'd just forget about seeing this or that DJ. Just lounge about in the sun, dance a bit here and there and drink loads of beer. That's the way a summer festival really should be enjoyed as far as I'm concerned.

It's AWFS, which more or less implies getting drunk.

If I had to pick names, it'd be:

Heiko Laux
Oscar Mulero
Rolando
Surgeon
Thomas Martojo

All area X, yes, but that's an indoor area, and as Jan said, you want to be outside if the weather's good.

I'm a bit of a lightweight, so I haven't gotten used to drinking whisky yet. Give me a couple of Fernet Brancas, however, and I'm fucking gone.

That's pretty much what I had in mind. No matter at which stage I'll be, I'll be having fun, dancing my ass off and drinking until I'm nearly wasted. But while I'm at it, if there are DJ's that are really recommended, I'd like to take the opportunity to go see that DJ who only comes to Holland like once a year and is able to bring the day to an even higher level.

Fair enough. In that case, I wouldn't want to miss out on Sims and Surgeon, especially together as Freq 7. They have really upped their respective games recently, and now play some extremely fun and varied sets that are very danceable, like this:

Mikey Dread – ‘Dread at the Controls’
Lost – ‘The Gonzo’
The Big Showdown – ‘Give Ya (Version)’
Kevin Saunderson – ‘Rock to the Beat’ (Ben Sims Remix)
Breakage – ‘The Shroud’
Phase – ‘Morodem’ (Ben Sims Remix 2)
Luke Slater – ‘Stomp’
Sound Stream – ‘Life Goes On’ (Ben Sims Edit)
DJ Nasty – ‘Down Low’ (Acapella)
Point B – ‘Creepy Steeple’
Forward Strategy – ‘Group’ (Applied Generics)
Nucleus + Paradox – ‘Dilenttantes’
Subtractive Synthesis – ‘Police’
2 Men On Wax – ‘O Zone’
Deepchord – ‘Electromagnetic Dowsing’ (The Final Step)
Marlinspike – ‘Bongo Rocka’
Nucleus + Paradox – ‘Arcane’
Sound Stream – ‘Rainmaker’ (Ben Sims edit)
Rhythm & Sound with The Chosen Brothers – ‘Mash Down Babylon’
Redshape – ‘Ultra’
Syncom Data – ‘Beyond The Stars’ (Speedy J Remix)
Scuba – ‘Ruptured’ (Surgeon Remix)
RSD – ‘Over It’
Jeff Mills – ‘Alpha Centauri’
Meat Beat Manifesto – ‘Radio Babylon’
Mike Dehnert – ‘Black Smoke’
Mikey Dread - 'Is That A Turntable’

I see..

Frenkie, in that case:

At least go and see Mulero, if you're into his sound. I've seen him two or three times and he blew me away every time. Oh, and Misstress Barbara, although I haven't heard anything from her lately. Her sets from a few years ago are very fit for sunny festivals.

Touché. You left out the best part though:

quote:
The easiest way to explain the taste is to imagine Jägermeister without the sugar. You shoot it, immediately getting a strong hit of mouthwash - drying the mouth out, stinging the tongue. Its kind of like getting hit in the nose. Your brain hurts, your eyes sting and water, you cough a bit. Then, as soon as it begins a warm wave of relief washes over and you are left baptized in Italian herbals and golf ball-eyed awake.
