could i get some advice on this?

i know it's the wrong forum, but nobody ever checks the music production promotion forum, or at least, no one who can really pick apart my mix and give me educated, experienced responses

imogen heap - headlock (natek remix). right click, "save as"

or

kotuha link

what would you do to polish this track?

I like it. The percs and bass are creating a nice groove and the voice fit well in the mix. The stab is great The break sounds good too, nice buildup and it all kicks in smooth.

Thats pretty much what I have to say. I Like it very much.

Thats about the imogen heap remix btw

cheers fellas, i appreciate the input and the time you took out to check it out

@waza i agree, it's missing something memorable, perhaps a hook or something, to keep the track interesting. back to the drawing board i suppose.

I really dont think this needs more work. No need to over do it. Its a great track and it makes me wanne dance. Take some days off and get some more oppinions before ripping it apart

thanks so much for your compliments and advice guys. not to sound like a prick, but i really needed some sort of affirmation that i was doing the right thing from completely unbiased individuals; it motivates me to continue and improve my work.

do you think it's good enough to send out? or still not quite professional sounding? again any constructive criticism is welcome, and i seriously appreciate the time you fellas have taken to check it out

I dont see any problem with sending it out. If you just send it to the right labels someone will probably take it.

Kick could have a tiny bit more punch and more low end, more presence. I do not suggest taking out the kick in the beginning because that low end perc is really dope. When the vocals come in the energy in the track disappears. I think the stab with the delay on it could use some EQ.

I would say the overall groove and production is well done and I consider it cleanly put together. However the arrangement is quite poor in my opinion. So I do not think it is ready to send out by any means. The energy build up after the intro isn't very good. After my head gets used to the percussion and groove, I grow somewhat complacent with the song. Work on building up tension, because without a solid arrangement you do not have a good piece of music.

Overall the mixdown and percs are really danceable. If done properly (energy control, tension, etc) you could have a very nice minimal version of this song. If not done minimally, in this present state, the track would probably need some more elements.

So yeah, just my humble opinion. Good luck, sounds good.

I agree with the EQ point, I dont have monitors btw so cant say much about that. But please, this song doesnt need more stuff in it. I think it is great and I find it hard to belive that I am the only one.
Just work on the mix a bit to make it as clean as possible .

I Dont say my way is the only way but just want to let you know you got at least one fan of it. Then you can do whatever you want

keep it up

Well he will have to tighten up the arrangement quite a bit.
