I think he's just got some delay on it mate rather than actually playing the notes

Try putting a ping-pong delay on and tweak the settings.

on a side note: i never listened to this guy and was wondering why people raved about him (now I'm really wondering) - this sounds EXACTLY like a 2004 Vandit release.

EDIT - Sorry, most likely 2 or 3 chords hit very close together, followed by a delay.

It sounds like it hits 7 times at the same velocity before it starts to delay, rather than one hit and everything else following that being just the delay filter. There's definitely a 1/4th delay but the sound is very consistent until the 8th note, where it drops almost immediately.

In the song you posted, the plucked synth lands on every syncopated 16th note, and your image looks like you have it playing on every 8th note. If that's the case, shift it to the right by a 16th, see if that helps.

Also, if it helps, the chord the pluck plays in the song you posted is an octaved D with an added 4th. So, basically, DGD.
