The Don Jail - Toronto's Coolest New Venue
For 6 months this summer my friends are going to be managing The Old Don Jail for various events. I'm not sure if they would be able to do a late night party there but it would be an amazing space for a party.
Check out some of the pictures from Urban Exploration if you haven't before.

For a limited time this summer, the historic Old Don Jail will be open to the public for the first time ever. Its new owner, Bridgepoint Health, is offering event organizers an exclusive opportunity to experience the 145-year-old building’s powerful history.
From April to September 2009, the Old Don Jail is available as a venue for select private and corporate events. After that, the historic building will be renovated and become part of Bridgepoint’s new hospital and research facility.
Built in 1864, the Old Don Jail is one of the oldest buildings in Canada. It was an active prison until 1977. Since then, very few people have seen this extraordinary venue.
Despite its storied past – or perhaps because of it – the building is incredibly well-preserved. It is gritty and authentic. Although it will be thoroughly cleaned, it will not be renovated prior to opening as a venue, remaining true to its roots as an early example of Victorian industrial design.
Every inch holds a story of Canada’s history and for the first time, many of those tales can now be told.
From their entry through massive front doors and under the ominous “Father Time” keystone, to the soaring architecture of the four storey central atrium and the surprisingly intimate Governor’s apartment, your guests will undergo an almost surreal experience as they retrace the steps of Toronto’s most notorious prisoners.
Whether you are hosting a corporate event, private party, fashion show or any other imaginable occasion, your guests will be talking about your venue for days.
This unique event venue is only available for six months. Don’t miss your opportunity to step back in time and make history with your event!
