Dude, any fucking car would be completely screwed in that kind of situation. I didn't believe it, but SmartCars perform far better than most cars in your "average" accident. Head-on collisions and side collisions are top-notch. Here's proof:

well it can't be worse than a saturn. that shit just flies apart like glass.

i got into an accident with a friend driving one a couple of years back. the other car side-swiped us on the passenger side, where i was sitting, and completely obliterated the door/front-quarter panel.

i'm not talking about a dent, or a crack, this shit flew apart like a firework and i had to get out from the driver's side. but it was just a gentle side-swipe. barely nicked us.
