Your favorite substractive soft synth and why....

With the ever changing environment and more and more soft synths coming quicker and quicker, there are a lot of options out there. As a lover of subtractive synthesis, I'd like to know what everybody else considers their best and more importantly why. The synth does not have to be a purely subtractive synth, however; please answer the question as if the only features you could use in the synth were subtractive.

Right now, Minimonsta is at the top of my list. I expect to see a lot of Sylenth1 answers.

Don't forget to elaborate.

I am loving the Minimonsta because of its insanely mean sound and extremely straight forward subtractive approach. I've never laid hands on a Moog, but if it's like this, I can only imagine the fun turning those knobs. Minimonsta is an absolute bomb shell for bass, leads, and even some quite deranged FX.

+1

KORG Legacy Edition synths and impOSCar are the best-sounding subtractive VSTs I own.

Tone2 Gladiator 2

- sounds great!
- excellent UI
- big feature set
- adds HCM synthesis
- love the filters (sound and variety)
- excellent support and communication from the developers (v2.2 is on the way and adds a ton of new features!)
- great FX

It can sound "big", but that's not its strenght sound-wise IMO. I like it because it sounds "alive".

Sylenth1. Awesome synth, however I dislike its onboard effects.

Sylenth1 for its great analog sounds.

FM8 for its great FM synthesis , and its great 'digital' sounding waveforms. Its actually useful for creating nice leads.

Predator , for its nice analog sounds. The difference between it and Sylenth one is... erm it has a subosc function and FM/RM synthesis? lol
