Dj headphones

Without doing research what is a good pair of dj headphones? My Sony headphones that I have had for seven years was finally broken at an afterparty the other night. Should I get another pair of the sony's or something else? I really am not interested in spending a lot

depends on whether you dislike supra-aural headphones or not.

go with the sony headphone. if they lasted seven years thats worth it. i had my pioneer hdj's for six months then they broke. my sonys are still fine after three years.

sharper, you buy those for me, i'll wear em

maddraver: i think you got a point. might as well just get the sony's again. 7 years isn't a bad run... and i wasn't even the one who broke them so it might have been just someone being careless

have a pair of 7506s & a pair of hd-25s. hd25s are ridiculously flat. sound a lot like the lower-end genelec HTs. I think they're actually more comfortable for a couple hours than the sonys because of the weight (the senns weigh nothing) and the awesome headband. I have a pretty damn big head & have no problem with those things at all. really easy to flip up & down, on & off, & generally move around. That said, it can be tough to have them on for really extended periods of time (talking 4+ hours, both ears) because they sit on your ear.

If I'm doing something music-related, I'll use the sennheisers, but if I'm just sitting with headphones on for a while for other stuff, the sonys are my pick (have them on at the moment, actually). just depends on how you plan on using them & what you're used to (for the record, I went dh1200-7506-hd25...the technics suck balls).

you probably already know this, but there are different hd25s. I'm referring to what they call the 'hd-25-1 II.'

thanks for the advice...

i picked up another pair of the sony's at guitar center on friday.

on a side note: they have my cd decks that i paid almost a grand for a piece for 400 a piece. not bad if you want some technics cd tables
