i've been thinking about this ever since someone mentioned mcveigh in the norway thread and also about how everyone jumped the gun and said muslim attacker. and even some people decided to use the words muslim and jihad with the nature of the attacks even after it was revealed that the attacker was a whiteboy.

and this is the hypothesis, if mcveigh would have blown up the building in oklahoma city after the 9/11 attacks, could he/people shifted the blame towards al-qaida or any other muslim bogeyman and they could have denied to they were blue in the face and noone would have believed it?

and yeah, looking aside the fact that it would have probably been less easy to do the bombing with yunno the paranoia level of security that happened under bush's reign.

funny, he was busted because of a traffic violation on his way out of Oklahoma. I can't remember if it was an expired tag or a brakelight out or something, but if it weren't for that, he'd been long gone.

He used a truck to blow up the building. He rented it. They tracked him down. Same outcome would happen today, just with some more incorrect speculation at first.

He was in jail already for some traffic incident, when they found out who set off the explosives. They didn't catch him leaving town.

It didn't take too long until, of course, someone blamed Muslim terrorists and showed some hostility towards people who had nothing to do with it whatsoever - let's not forget that 2 years earlier, some unhinged terrorists did attack the WTC. However, it would be just a matter of time until further investigation showed that his claims didn't add up: the lack of connection with Islamic groups, for one, would be a clear sign that something was wrong. As everyone pointed out, he got caught for other reasons and, no extremist group ever took responsibility for something they didn't actually do... though I didn't bother to check.

So this lie would be doomed to failure right from the start.

I am sure that there was some pointing at muslims after OKC, its just that its been lost in the shuffle since then. Remember the largest terror attack before OKC was the first attack on the WTC which was carried out by islamic radicals.
