fuck that, get Ableton and a controller. That way you save money on CD's and vinyl and can work with all the music you have on your computer.
Also, why do you want to start DJ'ing? |
Thanks for the reply, Ive already got Ableton on my PC and will take an ableton course soon, but is it a production or DJ course that I want to take? I dont intend to make any tracks of my own yet just simply mix them.
I want to start DJ'ing because ive been making my own trance tracklists for a while and playing them usually with friend/etc. and Ive always got rave reviews for selecting my tracklists, ive even been asked to play my music in a club, but the matter of the fact is I dont know how to use the equipment.

Don't bother with a course. Buy this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-DJ-prop...g/dp/0593058119 and make sure you get the new edition. It'll teach you absolutely everything, including what equipment you'll need, how to set it up and how to use it. It'll answer every question you've got, and it's much cheaper than a DJing course. |
Much appreciated, although one more question before I buy the book is the setup I mentioned above the correct one for trance DJ's, two turntables, a CD deck and a mixer + headphones of choice?

There is no "correct" setup. It depends on how you want to play and what format you want to play.
Listen, you sound really new to this game. Buy the book before you think about equipment. Even the cheapest DJing setup costs hundreds, and you don't want to spend that kind of money without knowing what you're buying and why you need it. Trust me. |
Alright, very much appreciated. Thanks for your advice.
