how does machine work for you in trance? From all the videos I watched a while back it looked very hip hop orientated and it put me off it tbh. But that was likely me being short sighted.
Would it be a complete replacement for battery? |
Maschine is certainly designed to be similar to the MPCs, but it's not necessarily hip-hop oriented. It's useful for pretty much any genre you want to throw at it. The library is pretty diverse, but more hip-hop/EDM/IDM-oriented than Battery 3's is. But, I rarely use the factory library from Battery or Maschine anyway since I prefer my other libraries. Maschine has one of the best library browsers I've ever used - it's incredibly quick and easy to import and tag any of your other libraries for instant access from Maschine's GUI or hardware interface. The coolest thing about Maschine, though, is its ability to do almost everything from the hardware itself in real-time. Bottom line is that, yes, it's perfect for EDM. The only caveat there is that it was missing some functionality, but this new 1.1 update is supposedly going to address that. I'll find out when I download it this evening.
