If this follows in typical stargate fashion, it'll start out pretty decent, get progressively worse and turn to pure shit by season 2.

Yeah, but look on the bright side; You would still have about one seasons worth of adequate entertainment though
I enjoyed the original movie, I have seen some episodes of SG1, but they're pretty scattered around the seasons, so I don't know the character particularly well. Only episode I even remember is where that black guy with the gold shit on his forehead is stuck in some game simulation gone horribly wrong LOL.
This however seems to be a bit more humorous maybe?
I liked the Empire Strikes Back reference haha.
