I'm tired of browsing e-mail with my web browser so I'm looking for e-mail client recommendations.

Use Opera! It can be your browser and your email client. It rocks.

Thunderbird is pretty good, it has everything u need, including a calendar extension for Mozilla's calendar app, Sunbird.

Been using Thunderbird for around 2 years now. Pretty much the same as Outlook and Mail. Only part that was a little tricky is migrating it to a different computer.
