the most definitive track of a genre..?
ive been pretty much out of the loop for a few years. i mainly listen to hardcore/gabba and stuff. but the type of stuff that the old tranceheads listen to now, this housey stuff, im just not feeling one bit, i checked one of bas's mixes from dj promotion once just to see what its all about, and no offence bas, but the first half of the set was dull and boring as hell to me, but i see comments in there like 'wow belter of a mix'and 'yeah, nice mix, this got me dancing' etc etc etc.
so basically i was just wondering, what are some good examples of some floor fillers of this weird slow dull house stuff?, and how do you determine what is an astounding track with music like this?.
this isnt a moaning thread, or a name calling thread.. im just havin a hard time understanding how a person can listen to a track of say 120 BPM with a little ambience and the odd plinky plonky noise, and say woh that was awesome.
same with trance also.. around 2003 everything got ultrra gay and floaty, very very quickly, so i quickly stopped listing to it, so now a days i dont know what 'good' trance is like.
SO: in this thread, list your preferred genre of choice, and post a link to a track that epitomises the pure immenseness and awesomeness of the style that you listen to. a track that without question to you, is the best example of your preferred genre as of right now
[ill follow suit shortly, so as not to get flamed for liking hardcore ]

If you like hardcore and gabber you're probably going to find even the biggest bangers in house/tech boring and sleepy
Some people just like slower music.

ah yeah ofcourse. but i have a very diverse taste in music, i dont listen to any really slow stuff tho, but im just inerested into why a person decides they like some 120 BPM stuff.. and what elements of a track makes them love the style
like for me..
...this sounds good, i dont know why, i guess i like the energy through noise, and darkness. i know its fast noises and hard stabs, but this excites me, and i find myself thinking its hard to believe that this is exciting to people.. but i am one of those people. listening to this sort of music live at a club in a dark dirty room is just mind blowing

I don't have an explanation even though I wonder about this all the time. And even within a genre and style, why do certain tracks and sounds seem more pleasing to one person than another and vice versa.

yeah its wierd.. like the sorta music i listen to [see above] ive listened to this type of music [amongst other hard musics] since i was about 13 which is 14 years ago. and i was just doing a set earlier, then i quickly went for a piss, and i was banging my head while i was having a piss, then i realised that this music is very anti social, and hardly anyone likes it, but i fucking love it... but why?

Different people like different music, that's just the way it is, and it's best to accept that fact and not to think too much about it. There's just too much music out there, and one simply cannot like everything. If you like hardcore, you don't have to like deep house, that's perfectly fine and there's nothing wrong with you.
I know you're coming from a Gabber background check this shit if you don't know already:

no matter which track I put, im gonna be wrong, so fuck it:
the kind I like:
holy shit the guy is a ginger, my world is imploding, damn you, youtube!
real definition:
oh, and umm, why I like them
The melodies, and the tension release structure, and the synth play, the repetition. Other genres demonstrate similar traits, I also like those other things, but this is probably my favorite, this trance.

I never had one particular style, but these tunes embody genres I love to a tee as far as I'm concerned:
