Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of used cdj200's. There's someone selling them in the hardware sell forum. They run cheap anyways.

if you can get something dirt cheap, like you original posted i say go for it.

right now im looking for a cheap pair like these, to take around and abuse, at house parties and small gigs. Ive already honed my skills enough, i know what im getting into. the 0.1 pitch increments are doable, but totally helps if you have pitch bend buttons.

pretty much all cheap/midcheap decks have 0.1 pitch. The good thing with pioneer cdj200s(0.02 pitch), they usualy hold their value, can recover most money -- cheaper decks like numark however do not.

i picked up a set of numark axis 8, dm 1050 mixer, and hard flight case for 180 canadian today.

i dont know whether i can recommend this type of gear. you have to burn, really slow speeds to make sure this thing doesnt skip. im a little scared still, but i just did a set with no skips.

im gonna test it out at gigs, then make my final decision. but, for the price paid, whatever. atleast i can take it to a friends house, party, etc.

to learn on, i think it would be good, but you cant go wrong with pioneer players. if you have the money get cdj200s. they have amazing disc drives.

Just go with what you can afford.

That was my initial idea, at first to learn the very basics just get a cheap set. With christmas and my 21st coming up I might pool the mone then and see what I can afford.

Btw, does 20 seem a bit old for getting into learning the basics? I know its never too old and that craic, but what are general thoughts on the age of getting into Dj'ing?

20 isnt old no. dj is easy, so ull learn it fast. whats more important is your taste in music and that comes from experience really, so if u listened to edm for many years u have a good chance. i dont think i started truly before 20 myself, but been interested in the thing since like 16. hadnt money for gear before 20. id get pro gear at once though, just save a little.

just be prepared to put some serious hours into it, and take breaks, and try again. you should try to do some reading, im sure there is tons of info on the net. 20 is still young dude. its not that hard to mix, although flow and selection will take much time. May i suggest a demo version of some DJ application for your computer. You may learn where to start and stop tracks easier this way, its a good prep tool for djing i find. im gettin sleepy, might be talking shit. As that youtube guy says, practice and enjoy.

i dont think i would read anything, just fuck with the faders, buttons and knobs and ull get the hang of it pretty fast. track selection is the difficult part.

some people learn different ways, i wouldn't rule it out...

I have Virtual Dj on my laptop. I just mess around with it and try and mix songs of the same bpm. Not really tried in a while so must try and mess about again. Joining the Dj society in my college on Wednesday so hopefully will get a few tips there and can learn to beatmatch and mix properly.

I've offered the guy selling €250 for the above set of decks and mixer, so hopefully I'll get them, learn more and things will progress from there.
