Popular house/edm songs for a top 40 gig?

Waddup i'm doing a top 40 gig and wanted to mix in more edm without losing the crowd so i'm looking for the trendy, cookie cutter, shit like:

call on me, sandstorm, better off alone, satisfaction, david guettas new stuff, etc...

and also any tracks you've found to go over well w/ a top 40 crowd

I have a huge gig next weekend with 1000+ people attending and wanna hit them with some dance music. its packed and even tho most people there don't like "techno" they will still dance to it if it has a good beat and catchy lyrics... plus i've been playing 30-40 tracks an hour on average and am looking to work some new/forgotten dance music into my set. its always fun slamming in some edm or baltimore club music when the energy is up.

any input will be appreciated and if you dont have anything positive to say please go get laid and take your frustrations out on a vagina and not my thread...

THANKS!!!

Hmmm, if your looking for like progressive stuff maybe go with the Deadmau5 stuff, but more popular stuff. Like his newer vocal version of Ghosts and Stuff, that would def go over well IMO.

For more trance stuff, Tiesto songs probably. Maybe like Sweet Things or Everything off of Elements of Life. Maybe Just Be would be popular enough too. Never know.

Just my 2 Cents.

i was thinking more along the lines of house/electro

i will check out some of deadmau5's new stuff tho and reply to you'r post with the tracks i downloaded, played, and how the crowd reacted.

i just got an idea tho that "you know what is what but you dont know what is what they just fuck what the fuck" song will be bad ass. i saw deadmau5 live once and he played the acapella and then mashed it into some sick electro beat it was rediculous!!! the crowd loved it...

yeah +1 for deadmau5 stuff. Not the prog but more the electro songs from deadmau5.

Also shit like cascada, september etc... usually they got nice reaction from the crowd.

you can also mix some nice electro beat. but with a pop acappella on it, so the crowd will still have the impression that they know that song.

and once you see everyone is drunk as fuck, just put some dirty electro or anything you like wich has a 4/4 beat.

tracks from pryda or mark knight work really well(with drunk people).

HappyHappy Top 40 gig songs

There are a bunch of tracks that would work.

Also, try to find remixes of top 40 songs so you can mix in and out of it.

Here is my short list:

kid cudi remix
justice dance
pump up the jam remix
late night alumni
daft punk vs kanye west
pitbull vs bucketheadz
stuff from Tommie sunshine's ultra cd

If you want to use EDM for a Top 40 party you pretty much have to stick with something that has been remixed into a top 40 song.

One More Time (Daft Punk) is one of the only songs ive seen keep a dancefloor going thats purely an EDM track.

Better off Alone has been so overworked that you will make the floor evacuate like Andy Dick just showed up.

Past that id stick to the top 40 and worry more about throwing in some older top 40 songs that people will like.

Yeah I got this gig on lock. I could rock this crowd with my eyes closed. Top 40 is my thing I have been doing it for years. What i'm trying to do is mash in some more dance music and switch things up. I'm all over the place i don't play more than 2 min of any song. So I can take a lot of risks that most djs wouldn't. If I play a song and and the crowd doesn't like it I'm out of the track before they can leave the dance floor. And I remember to never play that song again.

Top 40 remixes don't fly where I'm from. People wanna hear the original not some "techno remix". However there are some exceptions (crookers day n nite, tiesto's love stoned, madonnas like a prayer club mix to name a few)

play older top 40... Yeah I do that

what I'm doing with these recommendations is screening them, playing the ones I think the crowd will like, and judging by their reaction to the song(s) I'll decide if the song will become part of my rotation or not.

Keep them coming!
