Question Do you buy vinyl for DJ'ing?

I'm trying to get an accurate gauge on DJ's buying vinyl. Please try to be as truthful as possible. Don't use this as a stage to stand on if you do still buy vinyl and want the whole world to know it. Just honest answers if you don't mind

If you don't buy vinyl, did you ever buy vinyl? If you used to buy vinyl, when did you stop and why did you stop buying it?

Thanks for participating in this brief survey

There wasn't a proper option for me, so I'll just post it:

I only own one or two tracks on vinyl that I would play out, so I never play vinyl out. However, I actually plan on buying more. I like mixing vinyl and I like the thought of mixing the occasional vinyl set out.

So, I'm a little ass-backwards from the norm. I'm not "switching over" to vinyl, but I'd like to have a nice little collection in the near future.

between 2003 and 2006 i bought shit loads of vinyl, but in 2006 everything went to shit and i sold both decks and mixer and everything. i really miss djeing but i dont miss looking for vinyls and paying all that money. i did save like 30 of my best vinyls though, they still rock today.

i have records, i used to play out with records all the time (before cdjs were common in clubs)

i now play mainly cds, i'll still stick a few of my top tracks in my bag along with my cd books if the mood strikes (and i know there's going to be turntables there too)

i only buy records now if it's one of those bomb tracks i'd like to add to my collection or if i decide to go on a record buying binge, otherwise it's all digital for me (if i could afford it though i'd be buying records every week still)

plus, the local record shops have closed, i would go down and spend an afternoon digging for tunes, digging for records online just doesn't have that same charm

I just got into vinyl, so yeah. I'm buying old stuff, new stuff, all sorts of stuff

There's a few record shops out near where I live so I'm fairly regularly blazing up and shopping for 3-4 hours.

From that moment on, I could feel the magik flowing through my veins while listening to the music that Tijs carefully samples and produces. His creativity allows him to develop the concepts of songs that bring life and energy to people around the world.

I mostly buy vinyl, actually. Sometimes CD's, but if I can I'll get the vinyl version.

I have never bought a single digital file in my life and I don't plan on doing so any time soon either.

if records were as cheap as digital files, i'd still be buying them. for me, its simple economics, although i prefer the feel/sound of real vinyl over ssl. i stopped buying vinyls in bundles when i was convinced that ssl was good enough of an emulator. now i buy records occasionally when i see an old track that i liked for sale on discogs.

I was also wondering this samething, if people still buy vinyl why dont they have more vinyl pressings?? I have noticed that some labels have made there backcatoluge avalible via MP3 or CD but why dont they re-press the vinyl also?? that would be cool if they did that i sure as helll would buy them.

I buy new vinyl. These days, though, it is getting harder to stay up to date with the new stuff that is exclusively digital.

I do not have a DVS or CDJs, so that makes it a bit difficult to play new tracks of certain genres, but if there is no need to be in that position, it usually is not a problem.

I have played with vinyl since I started djing and still do today, but I also use digital files now. So the vinyl I buy now are really special tracks to me that are only available on vinyl.
