It's basically a new version of the DSI with a 4 inch screen instead of 3 inch. It looks like they are trying to compete with the PSP.

Now the game gear was a shit system. I had both the game gear and the game boy and while i still play the original gameboy even now (or i would if i didnt have 50% of its library of games on my mobile, yay for emulators) i completely forgot about the game gear. The colour screen was nice at the time but it just coudnt compare to the game boy.

And portable devices are great for that quick gaming fix on a trip or something, thouch i understand why pkc doesnt like them since you cant play supcom on them They are not really the primary system for playing games (cant beat sitting on a comfortable couch in front of a big tv) they are awesome everywhere else.

And a bigger screen is always nice so that a few years down the line you dont end up with glasses as thing as coke bottle bottoms (still amazed that my eyesight is a good as it is considering all those hours i spent playing the original gameboy in bed in the dark )

true but i think the main problem with it was the lack of a good library. everything about it was better than the gameboy, but gameboy software rocked. that, and after the backlit screen died, you were fucked :P

remember the gameboy color though? worst attempt at a system rehash ever.

Game Gear's first and foremost problem was that it could drain a car battery in 9 minutes. Everything else was derivative of this.

Game Gear was the shit. Sonic & Mortal Kombat on the plane... brilliance complete with a 20lb backpack full of AA batteries.
