I had similar nightmare happen - some dicks take their job way too fucking seriously. Thanks to my old douchebag insurance company that sent notification to DMV that my insurance was cancelled and my new insurance company NOT sending the info to DMV stating that my insurance was A-OK, DMV suspended my registration.
My mom was driving my car and got pulled over. The rest was nothing short of a fucking nightmare. Car was impounded, despite showing them that insurance was in order and having insurance rep on the phone confirming that it is. They still towed the car. It took 4 days, being sent on a wild goose chase by city bureaucrats, running between 2 courts 4 times and finally when I paid in full the ransom these assholes demanded and arrived to the lot to get my car... they told me that until DMV removes registration suspension - they can't release my car.
DMV takes their sweet fucking time and after faxing the paperwork multiple times (because DMV claimed they didn't get it 3 times before) and proving I never had an insurance lapse, 3 days later they finally restore my registration and we can get the car. On top of it both my mom and I got tickets - she got 2 tickets and I got one, totalling $700.
Luckily the traffic court judge saw the insanity of the situation and dismissed all tickets but I was still out of $300 for towing/storage/fines that I should have never been charged... and lost 3 work days that were taken against my vacation time.
So much for "innocent until found guilty". Fuck you City of Filthadelphia, may all your bureaucrats burn alive. |
that happened to me too but it wasn't that bad. i switched insurance companies and i didn't realize the bank my car was financed with requires me to have a certain deductable (i went for the cheapest one). so they notified the DMV and my license got suspended and i had no idea. also, the letter they sent went to my mom's and i just never got around to getting it and opening it and knowing what was wrong with my new insurance.
anyway, the cop was cool though, he let me go and told me to get everything straightened out. it was my first time getting pulled over and having a suspended license and i had no clue it was suspended. i got pulled over for doing an illegal U-turn btw so he gave me a ticket for that and that was it.
