i THINK its to add vocals/beat on top of things. heard that carl cox is good at that sorta thing, not sure though

a lot of techno DJ's play 2 or 3 tunes at once.. sounds wicked if they get it right eddie halliwell is the master at this tho..

A DJ in my local club does that with his BrEeZaH, looks cool

all the good techno djs play with 3, it's just awesome when they add scratching and backspins

as for techno, you add loops in the background to the songs, and you use it to play a 3rd song upon the two others, or play a 2nd song upon the first, using the 3rd deck to prepare the next transition.check out this 3deck transition download sample here
