I need an explanation about passive people.

I don't get it. WHY can you not simply voice your needs and wants? You're always sooo afraid of hurting people's feelings that you put YOUR OWN in jeopardy. Or, your response to not getting what you want is that you shouldn't have to vocalize it, people should just know.

wtf

Do you go to the McDonald's drive through and sit in silence and expect them to know if you want a #1, #6, or #12?!

NO you fucking say "HEY I WANT A FUCKING #1!"

I could reply to this post, but I don't think I'm going to.

I don't know, because I'm more of an aggressive person. I have a friend who's very passive, and it pisses me off because he's so irrational about it.

I'm not sure these are opposites. I'm by no means aggressive, nor do I think I'm passive. Passive people don't really piss me off, however... though I'm not really fond of aggression.

Maybe passive people are worried that if they voiced every retarded drivel that goes through their mind it might come off as a incoherent and pointless rant.

Well the dictionary antonym of "passive" is "active", which doesn't describe what I mean. I'm not saying it's a straight-up dichotomy where you're either passive or aggressive. I'm saying it's a spectrum where passive is written at one one end and aggressive at the other. You probably lie in the middle of that spectrum. I lean more towards the aggressive: I'm direct, confrontational, prone to starting arguments, not afraid to threaten face.

Probably. Out of curiosity, is the expression "threaten face" usual in English, or did you recently study about linguistic politeness?

I studied politeness strategies about three years ago. I can't really remember the difference between positive and negative face, but the general concept is very helpful in interpreting/understanding social interactions.
