Rearranging Intros/Outros on Tunes

Some tunes I buy have very short outros that just end or do not work well for mixing out of.

What I do is use an audio editing software to take loops from either the intro or part of the outro and extend it so that it's possible to mix out of. I'm pretty meticulous about it...making sure they sound natural and don't take away from the producer's vision of the track. Just simply giving myself some room to work with.

Just wondering if anyone else does this? What program do you use?

Is something "unethical" or faux pas about this? What I mean is that you could say that as a DJ I should know my tracks and be able to mix out of them no matter how they are arranged.

Thanks, I'm really interested to find out what they consensus is on this.

if the tunes dont work together, i simply find tunes that do; its simple. I dont usually loop outros, but i guess i could do more of that.

be creative, you can use any program, a free one, or something like ableton live.

Thats a good point and usually I'm pretty good about realizing what tunes go together and when I am forcing it. But sometimes they really do go together and the only problem is the outro just fizzles away. I find it more in tech-house type tunes

Tons of people do this. Think about radio stations that edit out profanity in songs. They do it all the time. Besides, hearing a track in a club or bar with some different edits or changes is better than hearing that same track played the same way a bunch of times.
