Review/videos: deadmau5 @ The Guvernment (09/26/2009)

waited outside in a t-shirt in the pouring rain for about 45 minutes. Luckily some randoms shared their umbrella with me but I was still drenched by the time I got in.

to steal my review from the roll call...

agreed! The main room was busier than any all access party I'd ever been to. They opened d'luxe lounge and it was fucking rammed up there too.

I knew deadmau5 was big.. but holy shit.. it was so mental

I really liked mau5's set. Played all the favourites and a bunch of shit I hadn't heard before. Gallery was completely bonkers as well. I was in there dancing and for some reason remembered that extended period of time where Gal was closed every week. Thank the good lord that it's back in business. I <3 Gallery!!

videos will be up shortly...

I have a bad memory but here's what I do recall.. from the times I was in main room (I spent a healthy portion in the gallery as well)

to add to the list
some Zelda theme clip into fml
more ghosts n whatever

and to end the set before the encore - play him off keyboard cat!!! (please tell me someone got this on video?) I was right at the front so I couldnt see the video.

Got there kinda early 10ish so the guest line wasnt that bad but i still got hit by alot of rain. Best part of mark's set was the stupid people yelling deadmau5 all night and mark just shutting them up with the horn lol. The start of deadmau5 was nuts. I got slammed into the booth by alot of people trying to get a pic of him. By the time the booth went up people backed off so there was lots of room to dance! I almost lost it when he played strobe. This was the first time i have heard it on a loud system and it was unreal!

Great night over all, heard lots of new music and deadmau5 classics!

Ya agree great party, great set, loved it when Mau5 dropped some of those grimy aggressive tracks. But ya main room was nutty so many people I've never seen it like that before. Was a mix between the true trance heads and the z103.5 crowd(just puked in my mouth) Also saw a couple scraps... who goes to guv to fight honestly?

Anyways hopefully that set was recorded so I can get a copy, Deadmau5 was better then expected

tracklist as far as i can remeber:

ghosts n stuff
some fucked up zelda theme
fml
the reward is cheese
... all my other shit as usual... since i guess you dont go to a pink floyd show to listen to metallica...

other crap i threw in to amuse myself:

chiapet (original mix) - not the skylark one, tho i do like that one as well)
kitch in - Tim green (sick ass track)
some new rework farty bassline version of sometimes things get whatever.
schlomi aber - freakside
stimming - tel aviv calling
phil kieran - skyhook (still a fav)
sebastiEn leger - discotechsomething
chris lake - sleepwalker
and some other various live seqs / track i never bothered to finish while jamming away on the parts using NI Maschine.

good times again no doubt, that line was crazystupid. i really woudnt want to be stuck out there in the friggen rain like that ... next time i promise ill rent out Arrow Hall or the richoh thingie myself and throw a good lil event type thing and bring in loads of other guys i love... like aber / stimming / leger or something... and can hopefully accomidate moar peoples comfortably... and do a +1 on production side of things.

oh, and wtf was the deal with bono? heheh so random, but cool all the same.

keyboard cat was win, tho im sure 90% of people really dont get it.

anyways, thanks guys for comin out and showing support all the same... as much as we all know you love to talk shit as much as i do, it's still cool to see us all put behind us for one night and have a good time anyway

seeya sooner than later i hope!
