I don't know what the logic EQ is like or what feautures it has, but I thought this was why people used linear phase EQs? So that they'd avoid this time domain smearing effect. Anyway, the differences were down around -94 dB, so I doubt whether this sort of thing really needs to be taken into account unless your using a bunch of really high Q filters on tracks with really strong transients.

Good point though about needing more low end roll off, softsynths do often generate too many low frequencies, and the idea that this might be why digital mixes have lower percieved loundness is a good one. I never thought it might be a specific thing about software.
