Formating HD with Win XP

Hey guys,
I need to format my HD, but this bitch wont let me. I made a start up dos disc, but it still doesn't work. when i type cd c: it changes to that irectory, but then it switches back to A
I don't see the option to format it from the xp cd either...
Can any1 help?

put in cd to whatever OS you will be installing over it. for example:

put in your winxp cd and restart your computer
(make sure you have boot from cd enabled in BIOS)

windows should then attempt to start from cd (it might ask you 'press space to boot from cd' so press space duh)

then follow instructions in setup. you will eventually get to the part where you choose the partition to delete in order to install the fresh copy.

Go here and download the file. Then run it, you'll need a few floppys, and boot off of those. Follow the directions and you should be alright. I have XP home edition and it was the only way I was able to re-format my hd. Hope that helps.
