Hey all you silly Brits, I need some info. I am going to be studying abroad in London starting in September. I will be living in Kensington. I was hoping all you Londoners could give me the low-down on what to do? Yeah, I will see all the sites and so on, I want to know what I can do to strech my social life to the max when I am in town. Specifically, what clubs are near Chelsea. I am not too clued in on the geography of London, but I kind of comprehend that Kensington is a little West of Central London. Where is Gatecrasher, Cream, Turnmills, Passion, etc., etc. (I feel stupid, I probably named specific nights and not actual venues). Anyway, please cure my ignorance. Thanks!

if ya here for 13 weeks might be worth takin a trip to slinkys in bournemouth they ave some top dj's playin there, take a look at there web site http://www.slinky.co.uk/ plus its alot closer than the others mentioned

Chelsea.. theres nothing around there but bar, pubs, and the small clubs.. Kensington is expensive.. no clubs which are of any decency reside there

Home in Leicester Square is big.. but a bit commercial..
THe End... carl cox frequent.. is ... on.. West Central Street.. just behind Tottehnham Court Road Station..

London is a place for FOOOOOOD!!!!! YAAAA!!!!!!!

I know London even though I dont live there.. but here is a good list:

Fabric: My number 1 choice in London, and IMO by far the best club in London with the best lighting system and dancefloor. absolutely fantastic atmosphere.

Home: Can be very commercialized, but look out for special nights where classy DJs are in town, plus Steve Lawler's residency there is too good to miss!!


besides these 2.. i wont recommend places like the Ministry (its w**k!!)..

however, if u like to get away from trance for a night (i wont do that but maybe you would LOL) check out Emporiom (dunno where it is and how its spelt but heard from people that they have a cool atmosphere in there) and Cafe Du paris, just next to Home.



anyway are u in South Kensington or High Street Kensington? cuz if its the latter.. u got urself some great restaurants over there lol

but to be honest, its bloody England here.. we dont find these fit birds at trance or House clubs, they all go listen to that cheezy-commercial-pop-charts music so my guess would be.. not to confuse our guest here who'll be coming in September hehe:

1. If you want to enjoy the music.. go to Fabric. or wherever.. that would just be ur first choice.

2. if u wish to pull a bird on a certain night..(when it gets desperate hehe) go to cafe De Paris!!

London:
Fabric is by far the best club in London in my opinion! It has 3 large rooms, plays progressive and deep house, has a bass system that pumps through the dancefloor, has one of the best up for it crowds in London and is on till 7am!Dave clarke, Craig Richards, Sasha and digweed all play there!

Home on the other hand is very comercial where suits and tie Busines types are found among the clubbers!The music is often questionnable in my opinion, is open till 3am, big named dj's are tendin to go elsewhere now and it looks to be closin down anyway!

Also try the Cross as it sometimes has massive nights at Clockwork Orange. The apmoshere is usually very good.

I've never been to MInistry so i don't i can't pass judgement on it

Elsewhere in the country:
Passion is my favourite club and even though i've only been 3 times i can guarrentee you a massive night out!!ITs open till 3 which is a bummer (apart from Passion plus=6am) but makes up for it with a crowd that can only be matched by GAtecrasher!U will see the maddest outfits and people ever to grace our little Island!PLays mostly progressive, dirty and hard trance on saturdays and hard house on Fridays (Storm) located in a tiny village outside Leicester called Coalville which is just over an hour up the M1!

Cream is great if you like progressive House with Yousef, timo maas and Seb fontaine currently residents and is in Liverpool, 3hours drive approx from London. It is very strict on its door policy so do beware of this!!but is one of the best and most talked about clubs in th U.K.

Gatecrasher is just the apsolute bollox!again 3 hours up the M1 in Sheffield and contains the maddest, out of it people you'll ever meet!Cyberkids(crasher kids)crown the club with the most amazin costumes where 36 hour clubbin marathons are common in this area of the country!Is on till 6 where DJ Tiesto, Sander Kleinenburg, Timo Maas, MAtt hardwick and Tall paul regulary play!

Godskitchen is in Birmingham about 1 and a half miles west of London.IT has one of the best sound and lite displays, hard trance and hard house music, very big named weekly dj's
again mad crowd up for it crowd. Its recently gone through refurbishment which makes the club seem smaller and more compact IMO but doesn't spoil the apmoshere of the club.

Other big clubs include
GOlden in Stoke on trent(totally brilliant and mad!)
Progess in Derby (very hard!),
Sundissential(even harder!)
Slinky=Bounemouth(south coast king of clubs!)

All these have to be viewd really to get a personal opinion of how good or bad they are (or appear to be)

considering the fact that the last time i've been to Home in London was in November, I have absolutely no clue if Lawler left or not.

he could've. I was really surprised to hear it became that commercialized. It certainly wasn't last year when I used to go every often.

"We thought we were coming to the centre of the universe, but perhaps Leicester Square was not such a great decision," admitted Ron McCulloch, owner of home nightclub, last Friday, after the club was closed down by the local council. All this less than two years since home's Darren Hughes declared, "All London clubs are shit and we're gonna show them how it's fucking done."

The London superclub had its license taken away after Westminster Council took the decision to revoke the license due to "open and serious class A drug dealing" in the club. Chief Inspector Chris Bradford of the Clubs and Vice Unit said, "We felt it necessary to take this unusual course of action in a bid to eradicate this serious and open problem from the premises." During a raid on the premises on March 23rd one alleged dealer was arrested in possession of 16 ecstasy tablets. Westminster council took six hours to hear evidence from the police, after which they revoked homes Public Entertainment license on the morning of Friday 30th March 2000. The closure has come after a series of problems home has encountered which included the departure of a number of key staff including Darren Hughes, as well as resident DJ Steve Lawler who left earlier this month. McCulloch admitted that he was just beginning to come to terms with the damage recent events have done to the home brand.

In a further blow, McCulloch admitted that the future of homelands is in doubt due to the recent epidemic of foot and mouth disease. "I think it's slightly too early to say for the event itself," said McCulloch. "As far as I've been led to believe, with the proper procedure in place it can go ahead. But we're in the middle of an epidemic, so trying to put a definitive answer on it is quite difficult. We will be monitoring it over the next two weeks to see what the circumstances are."

As for the London branch of the club, home have 21 days to appeal against the ruling and will be looking to work with the police to ensure the venue is re-opened.
