Hey, i am having a problem with sound forge too. well, actually it isn't a problem, it's just something that is annoying me.
I recorded a bunch of vinyls onto my MD, and from there i recorded onto my computer. i got the levels all good and everything.
now, i have a 45 minute wav file, with 7 songs in it separated by 2 second gaps of no music. What i want to do, is extract the songs, simply and easily.
i made markers between them, and somehow, i'd like to just hit save ONCE, and have it save 7 files appropriately cropped.
is this possible? I think it is, but i just can't figure out how to do it.
i have been cutting and pasting them into new files each time, but this takes forever!

JohnSmith,
Easy.. First convert your markers into regions by double-clicking betweeen two markers, select Special, Regions List, Add. Once you make regions for all the parts of your audio file, SoundForge will cut them for you.. Select Tools, Extract Regions, then choose a naming convention and where to save them and click OK.
Don't feel bad, it took me a while to figure this out. SoundForge is an excellent program, but the interface definitely has a learning curve.
12iNCH,
Bring up the recording dialog, play your vinyl and watch the meters. Make sure that they don't peak out (go above 0 db). If they are peaking, drop the output on your mixer or lower the volume of your Line-In on the Recording mixer (not the Volume mixer) in Windows.
That should do it.. enjoy.
