Linux Ubuntu DAW

Anyone has one or knows someone who has such a setup? And how is it?

There's a few of them that you can find through the APP manager in Ubuntu. I've never tried them but, I mean... Linux was not ever meant to be used as a DAW. Never in a million years would I recommend it. It's a server machine and *maybe* a desktop machine but certainly not an audio workstation.

to further comment, any DAW app you find on Linux will be open source and free... thus it won't be very good. Let's face it that you get what you pay for. When there's monetary motivation for a good product, a good product will be made.

Linux has software for audio production, although it's not professional to my opinion.

BUT! Don't just blur Linux to the void! It is a very good OS and sure has good software. Google the following terms for more info:
- ardour
- audacity
- rosegarden

And to beat Windows and apple, if you use JACK, you get an Super low latency for your audio card.

Still... Good software such as Ableton live, cubase and many others do not run an Linux (ubuntu).

The thing i have to say to you, stick to the software that runs on a certain platform, such as windows of apple. Unfortunately, Linux lacks good music production software in comparison to Win/apple software. I really hope that will change some day!

IMHO, Linux is not ready for professional music production yet.... But is will some day!

Really good stuff.

I've been using it as my main sequencer for the past 5 years or so...
