I have seen Tiesto 3 times. Once in Dallas summer of '08 for his In search of sunrise tour, was pretty cool for what it was, hardly played any of his music just a lot of stuff off that CD. Next at Ultra in '09 and that was pretty fucking awesome, a lot of his older stuff with a good selection of new tunes (I will never forget the crowd response to Richard Durand's 'Into Something'). Lastly was when he came to Dallas last October...I bought my ticket before I heard Kaleidoscope...I thought he played some okay tracks, he really bounced around the genres and finished off with trance. He really only played 8-10 trance songs. But those tracks that were good did not make up for all the shitty tracks. I will not pay for a Tiesto event again. Too much money, too crowded, & lack of good tunes.
I feel like Tiesto is in a transition still. I have heard a couple tracks from him that I have liked recently, but all the poppy stuff is shit to me. If he could just skip the pop and go straight to electro I think he could establish himself in that genre. But regardless he is a sellout.
I agree with most everything said above in this thread. Great idea, I would love to be at a waterpark with some EDM, but not for a Tiesto price.
