Any Ableton 8 users here?

I just formatted my gaming PC and recently bought a sleek little Dell M1330 laptop for school. However, both of these have enough power to run programs such as Ableton.

I got an email from Ableton's Update Site telling me that for just $199 I could upgrade from Ableton 7 minus Sampler and Tension I think.

What do you guys think about this upgrade? I hear the new Warping feature on Ableton is kick ass. I don't know what that is, but I'm sure this summer I'll learn it. Besides the fact that I don't really do much Ableotn these days except when I have free time, i it worth the $200? Is there a major difference between 7 and 8?

would love to get some input before I go blow the 2 bills.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the new warping or not. It's not nearly as quick as it was before, but it does give you some more flexibility.

Aside from some hardware compatibility (the reason I upgraded) and the major change in warping, I haven't noticed anything too dramatically different.

i paid 325 on ebay for my copy. my friend told me yesterday that he got it on torrent and it works fine. not sure about the warping cuz i barely know how to use ableton... since you have two comps, maybe you can try it on bootleg instead of blowing two hundo. they will have nine out pretty soon asking you to spend more money. if you barely use it i dont see why waste money, but ur a baller so it dont make a difference. thats my good/bad advice.

people still pay for software? i always liked the try before you buy...except when i try...it's years and years of trial. i'm not promoting piracy...but pm me and i can get you a copy to try. and then if you like it...you can buy it!

I prefer 7 over 8, I don't like the warping in 7. BUT yeah Ableton FTW. DO IT!

That guy on Saturday kept putting off because he had to "wait until the new one came in" so he could back up his stuff from the old one. He's Indian and he's a surgeon near the Medical Center. FAIL.

I'm still hunting around.
