2010 Tuition and Books

It is seriously ridiculous how much higher books have gone up in price. I expected tuition to rise, as does every year, but why do books need to go up?

I just dropped $720 in books, not to mention that excludes the other $2000-$3000 a semester I spend in architecture supplies. Thank GOD I only have one semester and another year in this shit hole. I feel sorry for my kids, though. I think I'll just send them to a factory or just plain 'old walmart.

My friend who just transferred to A&M-College of Medicine just texted me and said she just dropped 10 bills on books alone. Out-fckn-rageous.

Tell your friend to return them and buy from upperclassmen. At my school I'm always getting spammed from upperclassmen trying to sell off their old textbooks. That or buy old editions - human anatomy hasn't changed much over the past few decades (we still know we have a brain, heart, kidneys, liver, etc.) Med school textbooks are overpriced as it is - buying them new is a waste of money/paper/cardboard.

That doesn't work in architecture, but I should have considered that for my psychology major, especially cognitive psyc., whose book is a whopping $170 this semester. Freshies-to-juniors are the major target for upperclassman, in the "core" fields that is. I got done with my core classes ages ago, and as a matter of fact sold my books through some bulletin postings at Jester Hall at UT before I left Austin. Made better money than expected

+1

Also if you find the international edition of the same book (not hardback) you get them cheaper. Also thank government for the continuing rise in tuition.
