alright so ive been applying for tons of jobs on craiglist
and this one cruise line ad came up
so i applied for a kitchen position a few weeks ago
they contacted me back
but i found out it was a temp agency...that hires people to work on a cruise ship and not the cruise ship its self (sort of the middle man i guess)
she also explained that cruise ships only hire thru temp agencys
i called the lady and talked to her over the phone
and what they said is the room and flight..and meals and everything would be paid for..
i just have to pay a 300 dollar fee and 15 for them to mail the papers
150 would have to be paid up front..and another 150 i would have to pay after my first pay cheque on the cruise ship..and she said that the money would be refundable if i dont actually get the job..
i mean she explained everything very well..but i dont know seems sort of too good to be true type thing..
Your post piqued my curiosity so I did a little digging...
Apparently, there is a huge number of scams in the cruise employment industry. Who knew? I suppose it's because there is an international market of job seekers. I couldn't find anything on Royal Oasis specifically, but check out this list of dozens of cruise employment scams, click
The scams work in different ways, but they generally wrest money out of poor people desperate for employment. But you aren't quite out of luck, there are websites out there that post jobs on cruiselines and information on how to apply such as:
Google is a job seeker's friend. Simply by searching "cruise employment scams," I came up with a ton of stuff. Sorry that company tried to take you. Even if they were legit, it's unreasonable to ask you to work for an entire week for free. Real recruiters are paid by the employers, not the prospective job applicants.

cruise ship jobs never pay that much because it works on the assumption that you don't pay rent, are fed, and travel for "free".
temp agencies never take money up front, they garner a percentage of your salary from the employer that you never see.
between this and bartending school, you must be fucking desperate;p
